Ridiculous Neighbors Request That Golden Retriever 'Tommy' Be Constrained & Banned From Courtyard Despite Living In Dog Friendly Apartment Complex

Hey y'all. So let's start this off by saying that most of you folks who live in the United States in apartment complexes know that there are various rules regarding pets on premises, depending on where you live. Some housing complexes allow cats and dogs up to a certain weight, some do not allow pets at all, some allow larger dogs, long story short it varies. Doggo lovers and pet owners seek out housing that can accommodate their animals and allow them to feel comfortable in their homes. 

For one Reddit user, the dog friendly apartment complex unfortunately played host to a very anti-dog family, who lodged a formal complaint against OP's golden, Tommy, after briefly seeing him in their shared courtyard while the daughter was riding her bike. This family had the audacity to lodge a formal complaint against OP and his sweet doggo Tommy, despite them doing nothing and causing no harm whatsoever. We understand that people have different feelings towards dogs and animals in general, but perhaps next time these ridiculous neighbors are looking for housing, they'll do everyone a favor and pick housing that does not allow pets. Perhaps then future incidents like the one featured in this unfortunate situation would not occur.

    Font - I (M33) stay in an apartment complex with my golden retriever. Tommy is lovable and eager to make friends with others. I keep a strong hold on his leash to ensure he doesn't usher towards those passing by because he wants to be friends. Only when folks ask to say hi/introduce their dogs is when I let Tommy befriend them.

    Font - • A few days later, I was walking Tommy in the courtyard. The surrounding apartments have glass doors. The entire area outside these apartments is technically part of the common courtyard. No exclusive rights to anyone. This walk happened for about 15 min and then we went back in.

I know several people who grew up outside of the US who are terrified of dogs and cats, even small ones, no matter how friendly or well mannered. I completely agree with you that they should move to an apartment building that doesn't allow pets. They could also ask the leasing staff to move them to a unit farther away from you.     Font - TRextacy 11 days ago My wife and I had to spend so much time looking for a building that would allow our dog. She's 55 pounds so she's not tiny bit that's a very medium dog. Plenty of buildings had absurd weight limits, like 15-20 pounds. Our neighbor is TERRIFIED of our dog even though she's well behaved, has never barked at her, not even sniffed her. But beware, when they realize they aren't getting their way they might try to leave out poison in the courtyard. Watch out for Tommy.

    Font - MrFlitter 12 days ago NTA, camera up for evidence and keep a tight eye on Tommy in the courtyard, folks that don't like dogs seem to have a real nasty habit of leaving trapped treats. This sounds like either a culture clash (as folks have mentioned) or someone who has had a run in as a kid and taught that fear to daughter and grand daughter. If you have a deathly fear of aligators, you're not going to move to a complex that allows them. Plus, we all know how vicous golden retrievers can be your neighbors sound very entitled.
